An Eye-poem for the ear [manuscript] / Kenneth Burke.

The typescript manuscript contains a prose introduction, the poem, glosses, and after-words. With corrections in type and pen. Dedicated to poet Marianne Moore. Burke wrote it while he lived with his wife Libbie in a New York City apartment during the winter of 1968-1969, because of her illness. From their window they could see the Brooklyn Bridge and cross it imaginatively. He called a shorter version, "Eye-crossing, from Brooklyn to Manhattan" (Nation 208 (June 2, 1969): 700-704), "the belated record of the last thing that Libbie and I did together."
